Cosmetic Dentistry
Today there is no reason to not have an attractive, healthy smile. Every patient is an individual and requires a specific treatment plan just for them. There should never be a "cookie cutter" mentality to dental treatment. Here are just a few of the ways to achieve a spectacular result.
Porcelain veneers are a very thin facing that gets bonded to the front surface of the tooth. Very minimal and sometimes no removal of tooth enamel. They are a good treatment option for spacing, chipped, worn, congenially stained teeth or to change the color.
Bonding is where we can adhere tooth colored filling material to the tooth. This is usually used to close gaps (spaces) between teeth. It will usually last for 5 years or longer.
Bleaching, which is really oxidation, can lighten the color of your teeth. In our office we do an in-office bleaching session, after which you enhance with take home trays.
Enamelplasty is where we recontour the enamel of the tooth to correct small chips, pointed teeth, places that are worn due to age or bruxism (grinding your teeth). It's a very conservative procedure almost always requiring no anesthesia.
Endodontics (Root Canals)
Today the art and science of endodontics has improved greatly for the patient. It is often the only option for saving a badly decayed or abscessed tooth
Prosthodontics (Tooth Replacement)
We have many ways to replace and restore teeth. When teeth weaken or break due to decay or old large fillings we can place a porcelain crown over the tooth to restore it to normal function (chewing, appearance, etc)
When teeth are lost we can replace them in a couple different ways, a fixed bridge can be placed in an area where a few teeth are missing, or an implant can be used. When several teeth are lost we can do a denture or partial denture that looks natural.
Periodontics (Treatment of the Gums)
Periodontics or treatment of the gums is often preventable with routine dental cleanings and exams. It is estimated that 80% of people have some form of chronic gum disease.
Pedodontics (Children's Dentistry)
We like to start to see children about the age of 3. We make it a positive experience where we just polish their teeth, fluoride, and familiarize them with the dental office. We recommend children be seen every 6 months to prevent any major problems.
